A lot goes into training each and every dog here, and we couldn't do it without our dedicated volunteers! WoofCraft has many volunteer positions currently open, and we are always interested in adding more!
Volunteer Puppy Raiser
Puppy Raisers are individuals and families who open their homes to one of our Service Dogs in Training for 8-12 months. They play a vital role in WoofCraft's ability to provide trained Service Dogs to disabled individuals nation-wide. Under the guidance of WoofCraft instructors, Puppy Raisers work on good manners, basic obedience, and critical socialization. As a volunteer puppy raiser, you must agree to the following:
Provide a safe environment for a puppy who will be the only dog under 12 months old in the house
Supervise the puppy throughout the day, making them an active part in your day-to-day life
Provide for the puppy’s food, veterinary expenses, and transportation
Teach the puppy manners and basic commands
Work closely with WoofCraft to monitor the puppy’s progress, submit monthly reports, and attend monthly group training lessons
Acquire and utilize a kennel or crate for sleeping indoors
Keep the puppy on a leash at all times, unless supervised in a securely fenced area
Agree to return the puppy upon request
If you are under the age of 18, you must have a parent or legal guardian fill out the application and you can sign on as a co-applicant.
